| Guest Strip - Ramón Pérez |

Ramón Pérez! This enormous (oh boy, is it enormous) boner of mine is all for you.

As you can see, Ramón is someone I greatly admire. He is, quite simply, an amazing cartoonist and illustrator and I am nothing short of honoured in all my places to have him work his magic for me. He is also, as you can see above, a gorgeous man that knows the value of a good hat - I am floored.
He does the ever-stunning comic, Kukuburi (on top of a million other things). You will notice immediately that he has staggering technical abilities that will make your jaw drop to the floor.

Soon after that, you'll notice that that comic is an explosion of creativity and imagination. You really have no time to adjust to any thing before you're drop kicked into yet another glorious firework of beauty and colour.
The comic takes you on a journey you will not be prepared for. It gives you no time to stop and make sandwiches, instead it throws you off a cliff when you didn't even know you were outside the house, then proceeds to give you a full body massage and an armful of purple donuts that will lick your face like little puppies. You won't know what to do with them, but you'll enjoy every minute of it while keeping an eye on the ever-nearing ground that you're not even sure is solid. Will it kill you? Will you fall through and- oh! Suddenly you're standing back up on top of the cliff and the donuts have turned into limp goldfish, flopping about in the grass gasping for air. Death steps up and and squishes them one by one, while he winks at you and tosses you a cold beer.

Go read Kukuburi.
Thankyou, Ramón Pérez! |

| Raymondo Person! |
[Jul. 15th, 2009|10:36 pm] |
Patrick Alexander kindly sent me a book containing the first volume of his nealry indescribably webcomic, RAYMONDO PERSON. I say "nearly" because I could tell you what it is about and how it works, but there is something intangible about the humor that I can't quite explain. His non-sequitors have narrative weight. That's the best I can do.
Oh wait! I can do better than that. I can draw you a review - like those line studies you did in high school or like Weird Al's style parodies. Sometimes an imitation is the best review. Yes that is what I will do and, hold on - here it is! My gosh.

My father is an excellent gardener, and could grow enough vegetables to keep up fed all through the winter. Turnips are amazing because they are root vegetables and so if you pick them and put them in soil in the cellar they last for ages and ages. For more information about turnips, see every day of my childhood.
